Medical Waste Treatment Plant
Stock #874-PL
Medical waste treatment site built in 2017 that can divert a reported 95% of
treated medical waste from landfill. The site can process all categories of
medical waste including pharmaceutical, pathological, trace chemo, sharps and
biohazardous materials.
The plant uses a ‘carbonizer’ that processes organic waste in a negative
pressure, low oxygen environment with high heat.
The 3 output products are: syngas which is captured and converted to 1.25 MW of
clean energy (75% of the site’s energy use), glass and metal for recycling, and
carbon char which is repurposed as an alternative fuel.
No incineration means a reduction in harmful toxins released into the
atmosphere.
